May 23, 1995 <br /> <br /> I am also requesting administrative action to authorize <br />the expenditure of funds, immediately upon notification of the <br />grant award, to avoid a delay in starting the program on <br />June 26, 1995. If the grant is not awarded, no expenditures <br />will occur." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to <br />transfer $135,520 for the 1995 Summer Breakfast and Lunch <br />Program, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />95-257 Letter from the City Manager regarding adoption of a <br />motion to transfer $110,000 from the City's Emergency <br />Contingency Account to pay for the cost of prisoner meals and <br />medical services. <br /> <br /> "The Sheriff has requested that $110,000 be provided to <br />pay for the cost of prisoner meals and medical services. Due <br />to uncontrollable increases in the iD-mate population, the <br />original ~unount of $620,000 contained in the jail's provisions <br />line item of the Sheriff's budget, and the original amount of <br />$583,350 contained in the medical services line item will be <br />exhausted before the end of the fiscal year. <br /> <br /> This motion to transfer $110,000 from the Emergency <br />Contingency Account as requested by the Sheriff is provided for <br />your consideration." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Hawks, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to <br />transfer $110,000 for the cost Of prisoner meals and medical <br />services, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- NEW BUSINESS - <br /> <br />95-258 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />95-259 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />Councilman Robinett requested a recommendation on the,closure <br />of the Children's Museum of Virginia on Sundays. <br /> <br />95-260 - Receipt of Other Communications <br /> <br />There were no other communications. <br /> <br />95-261 - Continued Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />There were no other speakers. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Hawks, to go <br />into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section <br />2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion of a personnel matter involving Council <br />appointees, as permitted under Subsection (A) (1). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, pursuant <br />to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to <br />the best of the Council menf0er's knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> <br />
