RESOLUTION RELATIVE TO IN~Z!TING i~. HENRY FORD AND H-IS SON EDS~L~ TO BE GD~ESTS OF THE CITIES <br />OF PORTS.'~OUTH AND NORFOLK: <br /> <br /> 1. Whereas, N.r,. Her~vy Ford has invested in ~his locality on the Norfolk side of the <br />river, and <br /> <br /> 2. Whereas the establishment cz~ a Ford assembling pla.ut, etc., as contemplated will re- <br />dound g:ea~!y to the benefit of the people in the advancement of this Port as a commercial <br />mart; there.fore be- it <br /> <br /> 3- Resolved, That the City Manager is hergoy authorized and directed to confer with the <br />Ac~ing City Manager of Norfolk to consider the propriety and advisability of inviting Mr. Henry <br />Ford, and his son Edsel, to be guests of the Cities of Portsmouth and Norfolk at a joint Ban- <br />quet tO be given in their honor, and that while here they may see in person the commercial <br />and industrial possibilities of this section and the Port of Hampton Roads, and that we may <br />have the opportunity to show ,them in every way our %opreciation of t~ir foresight in coming <br />into our midst with their wo~d renowned enterprise, and pledge them our hearty co-operation <br />and good-will. <br /> <br /> $o Resolved Further,-That the he~d offlq~ls of other oonm~er¢is~ and industrial plants <br />that have recently located here, and those con~mplate doing so, be invited ~s our~guests to <br />participate in this proposed function if carried out." <br /> <br />.f <br /> <br />O.n motion,, adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
