Emmerson & Son to be refunded $15.00, $36.00 having been P~id as <br />City license on a two ton Ford auto truck and the truck bei~ one ton capacity, was referred <br />to the l~inance Oommtttee. <br /> A petition was read from J. O. Smith that taxes assessed against R. S. Lattimer fom the <br />Years 1~21, 1922, and 1923, on lots Nos. 485 and 484 West-~P~$om~c street, be relieved to amount <br />of $9.00 for each Year, Mr. Smith having paid the ta~xes for said years. <br /> .$n motion, the petition was referred to the Finance Oommittee. <br /> A communication from the Oity Electoral Board enclosing bills s~mou~uting to $30.55, incLLV-- <br />red on the second day primary election held April 3, 1924, and asking that the City pay same, <br />was referred to the Finsnce Oommittee. <br /> <br /> A communication was read from the School Board requesting the Council to appropriate the <br />sum of $2,100.00, from Washington Ward fund~,~ for a fire escape at the Port Norfolk School, <br />if such funds should be ~vailable and provided also that this be agreeable to the citizens of <br />this Ward. <br /> On motion, the communication was referred to ~he Fi~uce Committee. <br /> <br /> A petition was read from certain property owners and ~re_sidents on and adj.~ce.nt.to Virginia <br />street, that the City buy enough of the property on the north e~st corner of Vmrgmnma and Henry <br />streets to make Virginia street, between He~ry and NAmdolph streets, 30 feet wide; and on <br />motion of Mr. Oast, the petition w~s referred to the City Nar~er. <br /> <br /> ~r. Oast moved that posters aud advertisement of all and everF ~s~riptio~, except legal <br />notices, be prohibited on or around the court homse lot; but withdrew s~me. <br /> <br /> Mr. White moved that the City Attorney be instraoted to draw an ordinance to divide the <br />Oouncil in two and four year terms to conform to the State Law. <br /> The motion was adopted. <br /> <br />On motion, adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
