countant, at $300.~00 for preps.ration of .~cost report in. connection with the informal ~ppr~isal
of the Norfolk County ferries, is requested and a special appropriation of $300.00 for this
purpose, recomm~e~ded.

Action at the present meeting of the Council is suggested, as the County has already
appropriated its share of this proposed expenditure."

16th. "I regret to ~ounce the death of Er~ W. Jones Williams, Justice of the Peace,
which occurred on August loth, 1924.~
On motion, the notice was ordered to be filed.

l?th. "I ~m forwarding herewith petition cf certaiu res%dents of Linden Ave., protesting
against the~paving of that street with penetration macadam and asking that it be either paved
with asphalt or concrete, or that the ~ving be delayed.

t previously expressed the view that it was an error to pave resident streets with
so exoensive a pavement as sheet asphalt. Linden Ave. is a dead-ended street over which the
traffic w~ll be light and purely local, and I believe that penetration m~c~iam of the same
kind as is being used in Port Norfolk and proposed for West Park View will give good satis-
faction for m~uy years.

I therefore recommend that the plan to p~ve Linden Ave. with penetration m~cadam
be ahered to, and that the Olerk of the Oouncil inform the petitioners o~ the reasons for this
decision."

On me,ion of Mr..White, the communication was referred b~ok to the City M~ager for
conference with the petitioners.
