These efforts so far h~ve ~et with but little success. <br /> <br /> Is the ~arly part of this year, a proposition to operate a j~int transfer was submit- <br />~ed to the Pennsylvania road, 0.80. road, The Old Bay Line, the Norfolk & Washington Steamboat <br />Oompany and the Old Dominion Company. The Old Bay Line agreed to the proposition and the <br />Norfolk & Wash~gton Stesmzboat 0ompany seemed favorably i~clined. The other lines h~ve taken <br />no satisfactory action in the m~tter. <br /> <br /> As a result the Joint Co~mlttee has requested that I now place this m~tter in the <br />hands of the Oity COuncil for further action. <br /> <br /> ! recommend' that the Oity Attorney bring the case before the State Corporation Oom- <br />mission with the view to compelling the several lines to establish the joint transfer service <br />contemplated. The ~oint committee stands ready to assist the City in every way possible in the <br />matter.
