May 12, 1925 <br /> <br />"Portsmouth~ Va., May 5, 1925. <br /> <br />Honorable Oity Oouncil, <br />Portsmouth, <br /> <br />Gentlemen:~ <br /> <br /> The School Board at itsumeeting on ~rid~y night passed a resolution requesting <br />sa appropriation of $13,638.25 to cover an ~mount of $13,08~.25 the price fixed by the Condem- <br />nation Oommission for the site of the proposed Lee Ws~rd School Building, ~ud the expenses of <br />the condemnation proceedings of $550.00. <br /> <br /> The Board's estimate given to you last summer for this site was $12,000.O0 and <br />that is the amount voted by you for this purpose. The Board hopes, however, that yc~ may deem <br />it'wise to appropriate the amount fixed by the Oommission, so that the whole block may be ac- <br />quired. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />Nellie J. Simmons, Olerk of School Board." <br /> <br /> A roster of Officers at the M~rine Barracks was read from 0olonel Henry O. Davis, and same <br />was ordered to be filed. <br /> <br /> At this point, Mr. Brooks moved that ~his body go into ~lec~on:to~fill a vacancy on the <br />Norfolk-Portsmouth Freight Traffic 0om~ssion. <br /> The motion was adopted, and Mr. B~ooks nomimated Nm. H. A. V. P~rker to fill the vacancy <br />_for the term ending December 3l, 192~. There be~g no other nominations, Nr. P~rker was <br />elected, and by_the following vote: <br /> Ayes-- Brooks, ~M~pin, Oast, Smith, <br /> Stewart (J.R.), Stewart (R.E.B.), White, ?. <br /> <br />On motion, <br /> <br />~djourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
