<br /> Recommendation of the~m~ager that a special appropriation of $125.O0 beallowed for an
<br />advertisementoftheCity Market in the Norfolk Ledger Dispatch, the Raleigh News Observer,
<br />and the IndePendent of Elizabeth City.
<br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation not to exceed $125.00 be allowed
<br />to advertise in these papers an d other papers;

<br /> Recommendation of theManagerthat he Be authorized to .pay Police Officer W. J. Pate for
<br />21 days lost from duty April 1st to April 21st,.due to injury in line of~du~tywhile repaiming
<br />an automobile Belonging to the City.

<br />discrimi.nation, the soliciting of political assessments, subscriptions or contributions and
<br />p~litica~ activi~ on the part of appointed officers of the Oity and providi~gpenalties for
<br />vxolation thereof. Its passage is recommended:

<br />Violation Thereof."

<br /> On motion of N~. Oast, the ordinance was plaCed on its first reading.

<br /> 3rd. "It is requested that ! be authorized t~ purchase for the office of the Judge of
<br />the Civil Covmt one typewriter at the net cost of $~I.00. There is sufficient balance avail-
<br />able in the appropriation made for the equipment of his office Bu the Auditor is of the opinio~
<br />that authorityof the 0ouncil is necessary to authorize the purchase.
<br />
<br />Action at this meeting of the 0ouncil is requested. The typewriter is necessary."

<br />On motion, the request was referred to Finance Committee.

<br /> 4th. "! am in receipt of~a request from the Texas Oil Company to erect a gasoline storage
<br />plant with a tamkage capacity of apprmximatel~ 50,000 gallons maximum.on a lot approximately
<br />200~eet square situated on the northwestern xntersection of the Washington Highway and the
<br />N. '& P. Belt Line Railway. Permits for tanks having a capacity in excess of 1,000 gallons
<br />must be approved by the City 0ouncil.
<br />
<br /> The proposed site is in an industrial district practically unbuilt up and the erec~-
<br />ion of the plant will add considerabl~ to the industries of the Oity. The Texa~ Company has
<br />only a fifteen day option on the site and desire action at this meeting of the Oouncil. Ap~
<br />proval of the request is recommended.~

<br />On 'motion of Mm. Brooks, recommendation of the ~ager was concurred in.
<br />
<br /> ~ 5th, "Under existing law all funds received in fees at the Oity Park are to be used in
<br />themaintenance of the g~eens, grounds, etc. Xt is very desirable that _lookers be bought fo~
<br />the club house. The income from these lockers will amount to about $3~0.00 per yea~ and the
<br />first year% income will nearly pay for the lockers. Under the existing ~aw, however, the money
<br />received from fees can not be applied to the purchase of these lockers.
