<br />son street since the las. t assessment, he having paid on two lots whereas there is only one and

<br /> The opinion of the Oity Attorney is tha~ it is not legal to make said refund, and we
<br />recommend that it be not made.

<br /> Report' from the City ~a~ager stating that it will cost $2~000.00 to put an [~ ft. macadam
<br />roadway on 0hestnut street between Randolph and Lincoln streets. Also recommendation that he
<br />be authorized to offer the owner $1,?~0.00 for the amo,mn~ of land necessary to extend the wester-
<br />ly margin of the street between Randolph and Lincoln streets on the same line as that portion
<br />of the street north of Randolph a~d if this amount is not accepted, the City Attorney be directed
<br />to institute condemnation proceeding~
<br /> It is recommended'tha~ '~ appropriation of $17~0~00 for necessary additional land
<br />needed to widen Chestnut St. asked for by the City Manager be not allowed.

<br /> 1st. "Police Officer P. E.
<br />Mills lost time amounting to ~6 days between April 9th and May ~th, inclusive, on account of
<br />an apera_tion for appendicitis. It is recommended ~bat he be paid the difference between his
<br />regular pay and substitute,s pay for the time. This-would amount to $2~.?0. No appropriation
<br />is required, as it may be paid from the regular appropriation for salaries of the Police Depart-
<br />ment, if approved By the Oounoil."

<br /> 3rd. "On July llth, due to burning oat of motor in refrigerating plant, it was temporarily
<br />necessary to sloss out the meat stalls. As a result, ~Zae stock of Mr. W. N. Rench was damaged
<br />and had to be sold. A survey of the stock wa~ made by Dr. Erause, Ohief Food Inspector, ~_and
<br />it was decided that it was to ~e b~st interes.t of the 0ity to dis.Do_se of the stock on hand.
<br />The_re.we. re ?nly two b. tdder.s and that of Mr. T. O. Williams_ of $162,~ for the entire ~tock was
<br />accepmea. T~le invoice COs= of this material to Mm. Rench was $~?0.~4. His actual damages
<br />amounted to $1OS.20. It is recommended that a special appropriation of this amount be made for
<br />re-imbursing Mr. R~nch for 'his losses..,
<br /> On motion, the recommendation was r~ferred to the Finance Committee.
