<br />Eighth Ward bond fudd or the Eighth Ward current fund be transferred to the appropriation

<br /> Recommendation of the Nanager that he be 'authorized to transfer $200.00 from Labor, at
<br />the Incinerator, 4-0, A-2, to Labor, Street 0leaning, 4-B, A-2, it having ~been necessary
<br />during September to cut a considerable number of weeds with the Street Cleaning force in
<br />order to keep sidewalks open and to prevent possible suits against the 0ity.
<br /> it is recommended that said transfer be authorized.
<br />
<br /> Communication from the 0ity Manager with regard to the question of assessing abutting
<br />owners for public improvements.

<br /> An appropriation of $41,973.66 to ~ay compromise of amount claimed to be due by the
<br />United States in full settlement of the amount of interest ail~ged to be due by the United
<br />States on the water contract entered into between the United States and the 0ity of Ports-
<br />mouth under date of Oct~be~ 15,. 191S.

<br /> Request of the Salvation Army to be relieved from payment of $81.56 taxes on property
<br />~25 0ounty street, said property having been purchased by theSalvation Army July 2, 1~15,
<br />from the Estate~of Bas Rosenthal.

<br /> Communication from the Oity Attorney recommending that he be authorized to settle for
<br />$800.00 the four claims of Aohra~ Griffi~ and others for damages to their half interest
<br />in the crepe ~n the farm of J, ~. Johnson near Deep Creek occasioned by an overflow of
<br />water, said to have been Baused by the ditch cut through Dismal Swamp by the Board of
<br />Water Commissioners.
<br /> .It is recommended ~hat a special appropriation of $800.00 be allowed t~ settle
<br />said claims.

<br /> It is fur~ther recommended that the Treasurer be authorized to pay, out of funds
<br />on hand from collection of Dog Taxes, bill of J. Shirley Hope, State Game Warden, to
<br />amount of $62.50, for destroying 25 tagless dogs $ $2.50 each.

<br />St. at the Cathole has so depreciated that it will be necessary to replace it at an eaJrly
<br />dat~. It is estimated that a concrete bridge-will cost $21,~04.00. ~nis estimate is based
