<br />in taxes for the Year 1925 on 17 lots on W. Atlanta Ave. which were purchased by the School
<br />Board.
<br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation of $58.50 be allowed to make said
<br />refund.

<br /> Salary of. the newly elected City Collector.
<br /> It is recommended that the City Collector be paid $3~000.00 per year~ beginning Octo-
<br />ber 16th, 1926; and it is recommended that the salary of Miss Epes, Olerk in the Oollector's
<br />Office, be increased from $75.00 to-$100,00 per month, beginning October 16th, 1926. (Mr.
<br />Stewart voting No on City Collector's salary)

<br /> Recommendation of the Manager that he be authorized to pay ~he Norfolk Iron & Wire ~orks
<br />$50.00 from the appropriation for ~the 9th Ward Community Hall and-~ire Station, for steel
<br />ordered ~2~Mr. Wickham O. Taylor, Architect for the building, from said firm, thinking that the
<br />contract Would be awarded either 'to ~he~ld~w bidder or the next low bidder and finding that
<br />both these bidders had a contract with the Norfolk Iron & Wire Works; later, on account of the
<br />lowest bid ex~eeding the amount of money available, new bids were asked for a building somewhat
<br />reduced in size and modified as to details, and award made to R. K. Revell, the low bidder.
<br /> It is recommended that the same be not allowed.
<br />
<br /> Recommendation of the Mauage~ that Glasgow St. between Court smd Washington, be'covered
<br />with sheet asphalt, and that Randolph St. between the creek and Third St., be paved with
<br />bituminous macadam, the roadways on each street being narrowed to 18 ft., as there will be
<br />a balance apparently in the bond issue provided for the paving of High ~t. and Elm Ave;; the
<br />estimated cost of the Glasgow St. work being $1,500.O0 and of the Randolph St. work $5,000.00.
<br /> - It is recommended that $1500.00 be appropriated from the Street I~mprovemen% Fund to
<br />do the recommended work on Glasgow Street. It is further rec6mmended that $~,400.00 be ~ppro-
<br />priated from :the Street Improvement Fund to pave ECam~olph street wi~h bituminous macadam from
<br />gutter to gutter, from Third Street to Virginia Street.
