<br />and one lot on Madison street, the Assessors in 1920 having ~Ssessed said psmty with twelve
<br />lots in the block bounded by Sixth street, NavatPlace, Seventh street, and Madison street,

<br /> It is reccmmended that a special appropriation of $~-~.O3 be allowed to make said
<br /> refund, and that said property on Sixth street be relieved from payment of $13.50 1925 taxes.

<br />man of the Finance Committee, be and they are hereby authorized to make note or notes, payable
<br />one year from June 1, 1927, with any person er institution for the agsregate sum of One Hundred
<br />Thousand Dollars ($150,000.00), at a rate of interest not to exceed5~ per annum, for the pur-
<br />pose of refunding amount borrowed June 1, 1926, to complete the payment of the City's propor-
<br />tion of the appraisal of the'Norfolk County Ferries.

<br /> ~n this connection, Mr. Mayo moved that the City Manager be instructed to negotiate the
<br />loan called for in the resolution.

<br />gation in connection with negotiating this loan, and to ~eport to the n~xt meeting of the Fi-
<br />nance Committee. The substitute was adopted.

<br /> ~th. "On the evening of December 21st, 1926, on Mt. Vernon Ave. in Port Norfolk, a street
<br />car of the Virginia Electric & Power Company struck No. 1 Chemical wagon and damaged the wagon
<br />beyon~ re~air. The piece of apparatus which was loaned the 0ity by the American LaFrance Fire
<br />E~gine Company, in the emerg~ncy~ has been purchased for us for the sum of $2,000.00 by the
<br />Virginia Electrici & Power GO. as an adjustment. The equipment apoaratus is now the oroperty
<br />of the Virginia. E~ec~ric & Power Company and ! umderstand they i~end to salvage it.~
<br />
<br /> Attached you will find a letter from the Ohief of the Fire Department transmitting
<br />letter from the Master Mechanic pointing out the superior qualities of the new equipment.
<br />am convinced tha~ the City has been properly compensated for the loss incurred in the accident."
