Stewart moved that the matter be laid on the table until the next regular meeting <br /> of the Oounoil and referred to the 0ity Attorney for his opinion. <br /> The motion by Mr. Stewart was adopted. <br /> <br /> UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br /> The following ordinance, which had been placed on first reading by 0oun¢il June l~th, w~s <br /> taken up and read: <br /> AN ORDINANOE TO AMEND THE ORDINANOE ADOPTED BY THE 00UNOIL OF THE 0ITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH NAY 2~th, 1927, ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE pAYMENT OF FEES FOR THE <br />.INSPEOTION OF WORK BY TEE PLUMBING INSPEUTOR AND THE ELECTRIOAL INSPEOTOR," BY AMENDING AND <br /> RE-ENACTING SECTION 2, SUB-SECTION (A) THEREOF. <br /> <br /> On motion, the privilege of the floor was granted to Hr. W. Jennings Crocker, attorney <br /> r the Master plumbers Association, who spoke in favor of. the amendment. <br />~ Hr. Mayo moved that the ordinance 'be amended by~iding the following to Section 2, sub- <br />~section-(A): #Boilers: For each steam or hot water boiler used~in connection ~i%~_a. heattng <br />system, $5.00 .~ch ho~ water or steam radiate= imstalled $2.00. Smte which has Not Been Approved by the Oity Council,-of the 0ity of <br />Portsmouth; Prescribing Methods of Issuing Permits for Such Erection or Alteration and Imposing <br />Penalties for Violations Thereof" Adopted by the 0ouncil of the 0ity of Portsmouth on the 27th <br />Day of July, 1925. <br /> <br /> On motion of Ur. OOUNCIL, i~GR' THE VIOLATION HEREOF. <br /> <br />On motion of Hr. Mayo, the privilege of the. floor was granted tc any o~e interested in <br />the ordinance. <br /> Mr. Jno. W. Hopper, attorney, spoke in opposition t~ a~y ch~ge from ~ue present ordinance. <br /> Hr. Maupin moved to substitute ~ fo±lowing for ~eCtinn 2: "All applications for the <br />ere~otien or alteration c f such structures shall be first submitted tea Board composed of the <br />0ity N~nager, Building Inspector, and Oily Attorney, who shall make such investigation and hear <br />such evidence as they may deem necessary concerning such applic~tioms, and who shall return <br />such sq0plications together with their recommendation and findings thereon to the City CoUncil." <br /> Hr. M~upin ~ithdrew the substitute. <br /> Then Hr. Naupin moved that the third sentence of Section 2 be a~ended to read as follows: <br />"Any person who may be aggrieved by the approval of said site may file objection thereto in <br />writing with the City Manager and in the event that such objectio~ is filed within eight d&ys <br />from first d~te of publication, no permit sh~ll be issued until such site has been approved <br />by the City Council." The amendment was adopted. <br /> On motion of Hr.
