2nd. "A ~equest has come to me through the Engineering Department from Mr. 0has. O. B~r-
clay, 20~ ~ashingto~ St., for permission to oot~ect two houses on the Norfolk 0ounty side of
the George Washington Highway between Elm and Pearl Sts. with ~e city sewer. The sewernge
is now empty~ into a~ open ditch alongside the highway, which is objectionable to people
living on both sides~of~the highway. Should permission be gr~nted, the plumbing work would be-
do~e ~nder~ the supervision~of the P!umbing Inspector of the 0ityand they will abide by the
~egu~.~tions conoerni.~r~ the insSal!ation of plumbing. The 0ity Engineer states that~ should per-
missmon be g~anted, it would be ~ecessary to ~un a ~# lateral to each house, the cost thereof
to be borne by the owner, Mm. B~rolay and that a permit m~y be necessary from the State or 0ounty
to open ~he highway, which cos~ also m~st be borne by Mr. Barclay.

In view of the f~ct that ~hese houses are located right at the city line and that
connecting them with the city sewer will remove a~ objection, I believe it would be well for the
city to gran~this request. ! did not feel, however, that I h~d authority as the h~es are
not located within the city limits."
On motion of Mr. Mayo, the matter was laid on the table until the next regul~ meeting
of Oouncil. ~

3rd. "Attached you will find a bill in the ~mount of $87.75 which w~s presented to me by
Mr. John H. Ironf~eld on account of sm accident which occurred to his Pontiac Sedan when it was
struck by city garbage truck ~ operated by Mr. 0. F. ~tthews of the Street Department. The
accident occurred about 3:00 o'clock on the afternoon of July 18th on 0ounty St. between First
and Second Aves.

This accident has been investigated by Police Officer S. O. Williams and Assistant
City Engineer M. E. Hau~. I have taken the m~tter up with ~he 0ity Attorney and would like for
it to be refer~ed to the Finance Committee and if we ~re legally responsible for the d~m~ges,
according tO the evidence submitted, I recommend that the bill be paid."

~th. "Attached is an application for the erection of a brick service station on the north-
