Aucrust 8, 1995 <br /> <br />95-376 - Letter from the Acting City Manager recommending <br />adoption of a resolution endorsing a Clean Sites Grant Program <br />application to the Department of Housing and Community <br />DeVelopment for the PortCentre Commerce Park. <br /> <br /> "The 1994 General Assembly allocated $500,000 to assist <br />cities in preparing sites for new development activities as part <br />of ~ Clean Sites Gra~t Program. This limited amount of funding <br />is ~vailable to eligible.communities on a competitive basis with <br />a $~00,000 cap per locality. <br />D!! PortCentre Commerce Park has been identified' by the <br />e~rtment o~ Economi~ Development as an area that will meet the <br />gr~t criteria. Specific use of the grant will be to offset <br />sit~ improvement costs in order to remove existing development <br /> <br />I recommend that you adopt a resolution authorizing the <br /> for this grant." <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to <br />the following resolution, and was adopted by the following <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH'S <br />ICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY <br /> FOR FUNDS TO OFFSET SITE PREPARATION COSTS AT <br /> COMMERCE PARK. <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />the <br />cfi <br /> <br />wil <br />ars <br /> <br />und <br /> (50 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the General Assembly, through the Clean Sites <br /> has allocated funds to assist cities in preparmng <br /> and industrial sites for new development activities; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, PortCentre Commerce Park has been identified by <br /> of Portsmouth as meeting the General Assembly's <br /> aria; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, with the award of a Clean Sites grant, the City <br /> be able to greatly enhance site preparation in the subject <br /> and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City acknowledges that any grant awarded to it <br /> the Clean Sites Grant Program requires a fifty percent <br /> local match. <br /> <br /> ~OW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City <br />of )rtsmouth, Virginia, hereby endorses the application for <br />this grant and has appropriated or pledges to appropriate the <br />City's fifty percent (50%) local match of any grant awarded by <br />the Department of Housing and Community Development pursuant to <br />~n~s/ appllcat~on. <br />AyeS: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays!
