Cynthia Morrison, 4105 Swannanoa Drive <br /> <br />City Manager's Report - <br /> <br />95-372 Letter from the Acting City Manager recommending <br />adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $106,000 from the <br />Capital Improvements Fund for asbestos removal for the City <br />Jail Expansion Project. <br /> <br /> "Funds are available in the 1994-99 Capital Improvement <br />plan for expansion of the City Jail. Plans for this project <br />are near completion and all remaining asbestos must be removed <br />prior to start of construction. This work will include the <br />preparation of plans, monitoring of the asbestos abatement and <br />removal of the asbestos. <br /> <br /> Plans are to add this work to the existing contract for <br />removal of asbestos from the Civic Center General District <br />Court. it is therefore necessary to appropriate the required <br />funds to complete this asbestos work and permission is <br />requested to exceed the 25% change order limit for the existing <br />contract to ACS Environmental. The total appropriation <br /> <br />required is as follows: <br /> <br />Design (Smith Environmental/BCM) $ 6,000 <br />Asbestos Removal (ACS EnviroD-mental) $ 65,000 <br />Asbestos Inspection (Smith Environmental/BCM) $ 17,000 <br />Contract Administration $ 3,000 <br />Contingencies $ 15,000 <br /> <br />TOTAL ANTICIPATED COST <br /> <br />$106,000 <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works recommends an appropriation <br />in the amount of $106,000 to complete this work and approval to <br />exceed the 25% limit on change Orders should it become <br />necessary. I, therefore, concur and with your approval of this <br />item, the balance in the Capital Improvements Fund is <br />$13,139,287." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded Mr. Martin, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> ,,AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $106,000 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR ASBESTOS REMOVAL FOR THE CITY JAIL <br />EXPANSION PROJECT." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays~ None <br /> <br /> <br />
