Mr. Vernon Brooks, president of the Oity Council, in the 0hair. The following directions were read for the meeting: Mr. L. O. BrLuson, City 01erk, Portsmouth, Va. #Portsmouth, Va., Jsmuary 6, 1927. Dear Sir:--- Please call a joint meeting of the Oity Council of Portsmouth a~d Board of Super- visors e~ Norfolk County in the Rooms of the Supervisors Tuesday, January 10th, at 10 a. m., to consider: 1st. M~tters pertaining to the ferries. Matters pertaining to the Court House Bmilding. Very truly yours, VERNON BROOKS, President." The "call" having been read, the Superintendent of the Ferries presented for consideration blue print of deck plan, side elevation, and a mid-ship cross section of new ferry ste~mer, as information to the bodies. The City Manager of Portsmouth sta~ed that in putting the steam heating plant in the Oourt House building,, it was discovered that parts of the wood work were in bad shape, that he had hs~l a thorough exami~atiom msde of the building, and fo~z~e building in dangerous condition, in that the floors may have~given way at any time on ac¢OU~ ~f the ends of the joists having ~otte~ off. This necessit~ted immediate reports, and ~O~ference with the ~nairman of~the Board of S~pervisors~ he w~s having the repairs dome cost of $950.00, $~5.00 ~f which was to be paid by the City ancl $$y~.~00 to be ps,id by the County, With these repairs completed, he stated the building would be in good shape for use.
