The Portsmouth Chamber-of Oommeroe has lanE advocated reductions in Portsmouth's <br />industrial water rate and this committee ~ow believes that further delay in bringing about ~suoh <br />reductions may result in embarrassment to the city's efforts to secure new industries. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />j. ~. Parker <br />R. ~o Stokes." <br /> <br /> On motion of N~.vo White, the communication was referred to the Cit~ <br /> Mr. ~hite presented the following re~01ution~ which was adopted: <br /> #The report of the joint Board composed of <br />Officers of the Any and N~vy heretofore appointed to survey ~r~mu~ition storage conditions, <br />was considered insofar ~s said report relates to Pi~ Point Ordnance Depot: <br /> It is Resolved by the Council of the Oity of Pbrtsmouth that the recommendation Of the <br />said Board that high ezplosives, bombs and blaok powder in bulk, with the exception of small <br />quantities required for current issue, at this depot be evacuated without delay, be approved; <br /> It is Ftuvther Resolved, That the said Gouncil urges that the Government retain this depot <br />for the storage of all other types of ammunition, provided said ~mmunition be properly distri- <br />buted and stored, and a s'~e~y zone be established s~round said depot~" <br /> <br /> On motion of Dr. Dunford, the Oounoil went into executive session. Upon re-assembling, <br />~r. Whi¢e moved that the Oity Attorney be instructed to bring in an ordinance authoriming the <br />issuance of $500,000.00 Water Bonds.
