Three boats have <br />been operated during the entire day and four boats during the rush periods in the morning and <br />evening. <br /> <br />MAINTENANCE The work of repairing the three head'bunches of~piling and piles of the fences <br />on the Norfolk docks was completed, and it is expected to star% the work on the Portsmouth <br />docks as soon as the piles can ibe obtained. <br /> <br /> The F/S 'Rockaway~ was hauled out, bottom painted and work ordered by the ~nited <br />States Steamboat Inspection Service is-fin~ished. <br /> <br /> The boiler for t~e F/S 'New York~ has been fabricated and installation will b6 <br />made as soon as the boat can bel spared from the service, which we expect will be in the late <br />~all. <br /> <br />PERSOENEL There has been no change in the personnel during the month. <br /> <br /> I am attaching ~reto copy of the audit for the month of April, <br />mitted by Frederick B. Hu~cheson, City Treasurer, advised us today that it was necessary for <br />her to impose against us a penalty amounting to $90.y~by reason of our failure to pay for <br />our 1928-29 City No,chants and Tobacco Licenses on or before June 1st. Due to the fact that <br />OUr f~ilure to comply with the Git~ Ordina~ucg, under the ter~s of which t~ese taxes were <br />sesse%_was due tooversight ra~hez thsawillful intent to vmolate your czty tax laws, we <br />respeczzully request that the C~ty Treasurer be authorized to remit the penalty in this case. <br /> <br /> For your fuxther information, we wish to ~dvise you that our check for the amount <br />of ~1815.46 in payment for our 1928-29Oity~erchants and Tobacco Licenses was delivered to <br />Miss Hutcheson on June 6th, e~id~our ohec~ for the amoun~ of $90.7~ covering the pe~u~lty im- <br />posed is being forwarded to her!today. <br /> <br /> <br />
