Dear Sir:--

In compliance with your oral re,est, I herewith furnish you with information-con-
cer~t~g the complsdnt as registered by the occupants of the Argyle Apartment:

As the result of 8 inches of water having fellen in June and ~ inches during the
firstl5 days of july, considerable water has seeped into the cellaret the building in~uestion.
This matter, however, was brought $o our attention and proper notice served on the owner~ this
notice having been served prior to complaint to the Council.

The facts of the case are, that during excessive r~ins or during seasons of heavy
rains, this p~rticul~r cellar becomes flooded. I am informed that this condition has been
going cn for some time, and inspectors from this department have repeatedly taken the matter
up with the owner. At inspectors suggestion a pump was installed, and further, so,ch was m~de
for broken or leering mains.

The circumstances of this case are such that with excessive rains water does
cumulate in the cella~ in q~Aestion, and further this department has regularly observed con-
ditions a~ they have existed. It is believed that results have been obtained in the
and there is no reason to believe that results will not be obtained in the future.

Very respectfully yours,

L. J. ROPER, Director of Public Welfare.~

On motion of M~. ~hite, the report was ordered te be filed, and copies fu~u~ished to
the complainants.
