<br /> The great mmount of rain during the summer and conseGuent wet garbage required more
<br /> labor than was ~ticipated for burning the ga~rhage."

<br /> I have been informed at the tax office that proper notice had been given in regard.
<br /> to this tax both through the mail and in person. I also know it to be a f~ct that during the
<br /> many years I was in the tax office, I found it almost impossible to have the land or tax books

<br />of Norfolk County November 13th ~t ll ~. m. were read and were approved.

<br />I have sold one note $21,060.O0 for payment on new ferry boat ~t five and one-half per cent
<br />to r~n for three months.
<br /> This note is ~enewable until such time as the fer=ies a~range for payment of same. The
<br />money has been turned over to the ferries and duly receipted."
<br /> On motion, the communication was ordered to be filed.
<br /> 2nd. ,There will be due on December 15th, 1928, $600,000.00 City of Portsmouth notes
<br /> bearing inte=est at four and ~our-t~nths per cent. These no~es are to he'paid at maturity,
<br /> but it is neoesss~vy that the Oouncil adopt an ordinance for the borrowing of like amount
<br /> immediately after the first of January, so that we m~y be able to pay the banks of Portsmouth
<br /> the money we owe them which was borrowed during the year. Ordinance ~overing this los~ is
<br /> herewith presented for your consideration."
<br /> An Ordinance Authorizing the Borrowing of Six Hundred Thousand Dollars, in Anticipation
<br /> of the Collection of the Revenue fo~ the Year 1929, and providing for the Issuance of a Note
<br /> Therefor.
<br /> On motion of ~r. Brooks, the ordinance was placed on first reading.
<br /> 3~d, "There will be due on Decembe= 31st, 1928, $300,000.00 bearing interest at 5.85%-
<br /> These notes are payable at maturity. It is necessarY that an ordinance be passed so that
<br /> we may arrange to take care of this money when due. Ordinance is submitted her~ith."
