<br />Fayette~ lot bemng ~ssessedf~r $$O~a~d house for $150. This house was removed from ~the lot
<br />either late in 1926 er early mn i927, and when I p~id taxes cn this property last year, I no-
<br />tified the Commissioner of Revenue of th~s fact, and he promised to correct the ~ssessment.

<br /> This he failed to do, and I have this year paid $14.58 on account of this assess-
<br />ment, whereas I should have paid on a $400 assessment for the lot, or a total of $10.60, making
<br />a payment by me Of $3.98 on account of a house which was not on this lot at any time-in 1928.
<br />
<br /> I, therefore, respectfully re~est that I may be refunded the sum of $3.98 thus
<br />erroneously paid.by me on this account.

<br /> Newsps~per accounts have reported action deleted by the council on the proposal to
<br />modernize our High street lighting system. ~
<br />
<br /> ~The chamber of commerce board of directors went on record some time ago in f~vor
<br />of the ,white way' proposal, expressing the~belief th~t~y~his means the brightness and
<br />general good appearance o~ our t~smness ~sec~ion would be greatly improved.
<br />
<br /> We boast that Portsmouth is the only Colonial town in the world enjoying broad,
<br />straight streets, and we have the opportunity so to develop these by ahun-dant and scientific
<br />lighting that, by night, at least, Portsmouth may have appearances as attractive.as any in
<br />the country.
<br />
<br /> We hope that it will be possible for you to complete arrangements for this im-
<br />provement in ~he very near future.
