February 5, 1929 Mr. Maupin nominated Mr. Arohibald~Ogg for the position. Dr: Dunford moved that the nomi- nations be closedJ The motion was adopted, and Mr. O'gg was elected by the following vote: Ayes-- Brooks, Dunford, Maupin, Mayo, Oast, Stewart, 6. Messrs. J~ Flowers, effective this date." On motion, the communication was ordered to be filed~ 2nd. #I have this day approved the recomm~endation of Major J. M. Broughtom, 0hief of Police, that Mr. S. N~ Perry he dropped from the list of substitutes of the Police Department, effective this date." On motion, the communication was ordered to be filed. 3rd. ~"I beg to announce the appointment of Mr. L. ~. Warren as regular policeman~ vice A. J. Flowers, resigned." On motion, the communication w~s ordered to be filed~ ~th. "Attached you will find request of Police Officer Eugene Pate to be reimbursed for time lost by him due to injury received in line of duty on Jauu~ry llth, 1929. Officer Pate's letter explains the accident in detail. Dr. J. O~ Phillips, Oity Physician, ~ttended him-and his certificate is attached. I feel, from the information~furnished me by 0hief Brou~ht~n that Officer Pate should be ~relmbursed for thetwenmy-nine days lost which amounts to $~3-55. In event of recovery for damages by Mr. Pa~e from the Ice Delivery Oorporation in excess of his expenses the residue from such damages is to apply ~n wages advanced up to $1~3.55.# ' of Dr. Dunford On motio~ the recommendation of the Manager was concurred in, ~he amount to be paid out of Police Department, Salaries. 5th. "Attached you wil~ find application from the American Oil Oompany for permission to erec~ at their plant located at 2500 0ounty St., one 20,000 gallon storage tank. They now have at this location three storage tanks of the same capacity. This location has been previously passed on by ~he Oounoil as a suitable place for ail storage and I see nc reason why permission shouId not be granted. ~ Fire Inspeoto= Shannon and myself have visited the premises. The property of the Oil Oompany is lm~ediatet~y adjacent to the Belt Line Railroad tracks and it will not be neces- sary for them to a~qui=e any further property, as the location of the proposed ta~k adjoins that of the other ~hreetanks~ I therefore recommend that~this permissi~ be granted b~ the Ooun¢i2, the tank to be e=ected under the supervision of the Fire Inspector and in conformity with ordin~uce cove~ing e~ectio~ of oil tanks., On motion of Mr. Stewart, the communication was laid on the~table un~i~ the next regular meeting of the Council.
