<br />cuit for ~ssesming~bOats of five tons burden er over, under the seg~egation~.tax, l~w; taxes
<br />on boats are now payable to the cities and towns, and Mr. Ashburn made the assessments~:as.
<br />set forth in his bill. Under sectlon335 of the State--~ax~Codehe is allowed one tenth, of
<br />one per cent for the first million-.dollars of assessment'. Section 3~3 of the Tax Code, (origi-
<br />~ally acts 1~26 page ~97), provides that no examiner shall receive any compensation out of
<br />~the State treasury for assessing any property for local-taxation ~exclusively. For such ser-
<br />vices as any examiner may perform'for any eounty~ city.ort~wn, theboard of Supervisors of
<br />the county, or the council of the city or town~- for which such services are performed, may
<br />allow such examiner as it may d~emjproper;-~ payable outofthelooal tre~ury. The bill of
<br />Mr. AshbUrn for $21.05 appears mo ce a proper bill S~nd should be paid~

<br />On motion of Mr. Brooks, a special appropriation of $21.0~ was allowed .to pay said bill.

<br /> In regard to the communication from the City Collector asking that Mrs. J. A.
<br />Wilson be refunded $~.~5 onpersonal property taxes for 192S, I find that Mrs. Wilson was
<br />assessed with household furnltu~e at avalue of $?O, which the Commissioner of the Revenue
<br />certified to the City Collector was in error. It seems that Mrs. Wilson boards with her
<br />mother and has no furniture. Mrs. Wilson paid the taxes along with the taxes on an a~tcmo-
<br />bile and she is now seeking to recover the same. It appears that she is entitled to the
<br />
