257 <br /> <br /> October 9, 1995 <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFQRE,. ...-~, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council_ __of the City <br />of Portsmouth, V~rg~nia, hereby requests that the <br />above-described project for the improvement of West Norfolk Road <br />be programmed by the Virginia Department of Transportation as an <br />urban highway project. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of Portsmouth <br />hereby agrees to pay its share of the total cost for preliminary <br />engineering, right of way acquisition and construction of this <br />project in accordance with Section 33.1-44 of the Code of <br />Virginia; and that, if the City of Portsmouth subsequently <br />elects to cancel this project, the City of Portsmouth hereby <br />agrees to reimburse the Virginia Department of Transportation <br />for the total amount of the costs expended by the Department <br />thrOugh the date the Department is notified of such <br />canclellation, if reimbursement of such cost is not waived by the <br />Commonwealth Transportation Board." <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION TO ESTABLISH A PROJECT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF <br />TYRE! NECK ROAD FROM THE SOUTHERN CITY LIMITS TO WEST NORFOLK <br />ROAD~o <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of Portsmouth, Virginia, desires <br />that the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) establish <br />a project for the improvement of Tyre Neck Road from the <br />southern City limits to West Norfolk Road generally as a <br />four-lane road, a distance of approximately .4 miles. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuann to VDOT construction allocation <br />procedures, a resolution must be adopted by the governing body <br />requesting that VDOT program an urban highway project and <br />agreeing to reimburse VDOT for its total costs should the City <br />elect to cancel the project. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, hereby requests that the <br />above-described project for the improvement of Tyre Neck Road be <br />programmed by the Virginia Department of Transportation as a <br />urban highway project. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of Portsmouth <br />hereby agrees to pay its share of the total cost for preliminary <br />engineering, right of way acquisition and construction of this <br />project in accordance with Section 33.1-44 of the Code of <br />Virginia; and that, if the City of Portsmouth subsequently <br />elects to cancel this project, the City of Portsmouth hereby <br />agrees to reimburse the Virginia Department of Transportation <br />for the total amount of the costs expended by the Department <br />through the date the Department is notified of such <br />cancellation, if such reimbursement is not waived by the <br />Conunonwealth Transportation Board." <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION TO ESTABLISH A PROJECT FOR THE REALIGNMENT OF <br />FREDERICK ANDAIRLINE BOULEVARDS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of Portsmouth, Virginia, desires <br />that the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) establish <br />a project for (a) the realignment of Frederick Boulevard as a <br />four-lane divided highway approximately .6 miles in length, <br />between Scott Street and High Street; and (b) the realignment of <br />Airline Boulevard to intersect with Frederick Boulevard at Bart <br />Street; and <br /> <br /> <br />
