~arch 11, 1930 <br /> <br /> AND WHEREAS, the site for this hospital will be s~lected within the next few months; <br /> <br /> AND~WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth and' its vi~inity, posse~s an ideal climate for in- <br />~itutionsof this kind, being cool in the summer and very ~ild in the winter, and that due <br /> o the large number of ~Lrailroac~s possessing terminat~in thms vioinity~ that transportation <br />~or p~tients goin~ to and from the hospital can be effected with the utmost £acility; <br /> <br /> AND WHEREAS~ due to the large markets of the Cities of Portsmouth and Norfolk, which con- <br />stitute t~gethe=, the second la~ges0ity in'the South, can produce at all times, at the <br />cheapes~ prices,-the foods demanded by a ls~rge hosp£tal; <br /> <br /> AND WHEREAS, the climate and l~oatiom of this City has been indorsed and approved by the <br />Navy Department 'to ~he extent' that it has est~olished here its greatest hospital on the Atlantic <br />Coast a~d maintained it for over a hundzed yea~s; <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Portsmouth go on record <br />as ~avo2ing the location of this ospmtal mn th~s vmcmnmty and urges all civic organizations <br />to co-operate in obtaining this hospital for the City of Portsmouth or its vicinity~. <br /> <br /> On motion of ~r. Stewart, the resolution was adopted. <br /> <br /> ~'A communication was read ~rom the Chairman of the United States Pulaski Susq~icentennial <br />Commission asking the 0ounoil to adopt a~ resolution petitioning Oongress to declare October <br />llth of each year as General Pulaski's ~morialDayo <br /> On motion Of ~r. Ogg, the communication was received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion, adjou~ed. <br /> <br /> <br />
