<br /> the negative return feedersmof the electrical railway system.of ~he Power Company as may
<br /> be approved by the City M~aager,. Portsmouth, such connections to be m~de under the supervision
<br /> of the City~anager or his representative~ and in accordance with the regulations of the
<br /> ~ate~ Department, the cost of such connections to be paid by the Power Company.
<br /> The Power Company covenants and agrees that it will use all due care in making such
<br /> connections and use modern and up to date methods ~nd equipment for said purpose.
<br /> The Power 0ompany further egrees that it will indemnify 8nd save harmless the City from
<br /> amy damage to its said water system, and from any and all dther d~m~ge ~ud all claims, de-
<br />mends end suits on account of the existence of such electrical connections, provided that
<br />_the Power Company is given notice of any such claims and sufforded ~u opportunity to defend'
<br />
<br /> This agreement may be cancelled by thirty d~ys notice in writing by either party ~o the
<br /> other.
<br />

<br /> Section l: That the 0ity ~uager be, and he is hereby, authorized ~nd directed to exe-
<br />cute in the name a4d on .behalf of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, the form of contract here'
<br />with attached-.~as a ~art hereof between the Ci~y of Portsmouth and Virginia Electric mhd Power
<br />Company, granting to the Virginia Electric and Power 0ompany permissio~ to make electrical
<br />con~ections between the electrical negative return.~feeders of its street railway system and
<br />the water mains of the City, and that the City Clerk be, and he is hereby, authorized and
<br />directed to affix the corporate seal of the City to said form of contract and attest the same.

<br />monthly meeting adopted a resolution concerning the Veteran's Hospital to be situated in ~he
<br />State of Virginia.
