on omitted assessments has been furnished to the Commissioner of the Revenue by me, I have
no doubt hut what this amount either ha~ been or will be col.lected in the near future.

Your attention is directed to an eighteen acre tract of ls~ud being a portion of a
much laxger area which is located in the county.

Heretofore this entire area~ has been assessed in Norfolk County, and from investi-
.gation i find that the owners, Annie 0. Barlow and Carrie B, Benson, have paid the same to
the County. The~e is no doubt but what the City of Portsmouth i '
derived from the eighteen . b~ ~o ~ _ ~ s.ent~tled to the reven~e
~- ~ on ~ne entire a~ea would a~ou~t to
$5,400;00 in assessed value, amounting to $143.10 per year at our present tax raze. Being
unfamili~ with the law in this matter, I feel. that the 0ity Attorney will no doubt be in
a position to collect that portion d~e the city from the proper parties.

Another case tD which I especially call your attention is that of 1~ lots in Po~
Norfolk, which have been carried in the nnk~own aocol~lt, and have been assessed by the county,
the taxes from which have been Collected by the county. These lots are wholly and entirely
within the city limits of Portsmouth, and the assessment on them amounts to $720.00.

I have in my possession the names of the owners of the properties above listed,
but will noi burden you with them in this report, h6wever, same are available at any time
you may wish them.

The Assessors are given the prints of the finished plats after the office force
has listed all available information in regard to owners and previous assessment, mud they
in turn, after making the new assessment return-them to this office for further handling,
which includes the revision of present descriptions and the new assessment.
