June 24, 1930 <br /> <br />,portsmouth, Virginia, June 24, 1930. <br /> <br />To the Honorable Gity Council, <br />Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> <br />Gentlemen:-- <br /> Since yottr honorable body may desire to go into the matter of the election of <br />the members of the School Boar~ at its meeting tonight under an Act of the General Assembly <br />of 1~30~ Amending Section 7~0 of the 0ode, t am giving below for your information the names <br />of the present members of the School Board and the number of yes.re before their present terms <br />of o~fice expire, They are as follows: <br /> <br />First District: <br /> <br />R. S. Marshall . three years <br />T. W. Mathews two years <br />0ora S. Da~den one yea~ <br /> <br />Second District: <br /> <br /> N. R. McGehee <br />H. A. Blankenshlp <br />F. T; Briggs <br /> <br />three yea~s <br />two yes.va <br />one yea~ <br /> <br />Third District: <br /> <br />H. M. Gumm <br />Albert Lassit e= <br />j. H. B~i~ <br /> <br /> Mr. Mayo moved that~e go into the <br />july 1, 1930. The motion ~as adopted. <br /> <br />three yea~s <br />two yea~s <br />one year <br /> <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> H. A. Hunt, Supt. of Schools." <br /> <br /> election of ~emhers of the School Board for term beginning <br /> <br /> Mr. Ms, pin placed the following in nomination: First District: P~ S. Marshall, three <br />yea~s; T. W. Mathews, two years; Oora S. Darden, one year. Second District: W. R. McGehee, <br />th=ce yea=s; H. A; Blankenship, two yea~s; F; T. Briggs, one yea~. Third District: H.M. <br />Gumm, three yea~vs; Albert Lassiter, two years; J. H. Bain, one ye.a~. <br /> Dr. Dunford moved that the nominations be closed. The motion was <br /> A vote being~aken, they were elected, and by the following vote; <br />for each: <br /> Ayes-- Dunford, Maupin, Mayo, Oast, Stews.vt, Ogg, 6. <br /> As ~uthorized by the Oouncil June 10th, announcement was m~de of the appointment of the <br />following on the Oommittee on resm~f~'ing the George Washington Highway: Archibald Ogg, E.W. <br />Maupin, Jr. <br /> <br /> ~n motion, adjourned, <br /> <br />adopted. <br /> <br />the vote being the same <br /> <br /> <br />
