I refer to th~ increasing and wanton destruction of v~-
cant buildings.'
Until recently the property ow~e~s' chief complaint was because of theft
or destruction of plumbing, electric and other fixtures; glass, sash, doors, etc. While
this depredation has accelerated, it is insignificant in comparison to the'destruction.
cf the entire building. M~ny buildings h~ve completely disappeared by theft; hundreds cf
others are new being destroyed day and night a~d the owne~ is helpless. The Gity h~s
perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxable v~ues and taxes; the owner more~ and
the destruction is inereaei~go The buildings are not removed in a d~y or night; the
mov~l of eaohbuilding consumes weeks or months; anyone can see the progress; yet none
seem able to stop it;'
Your best thought and efforts may do much to check, if not stop this
struction, and conserve values for taxation aad the citizens.

Yours very truly,

L.
