A~ri~ Pgth. <br /> <br /> The following resolution placed on first reading April tgth was taken up and <br />read: <br /> "In consideration of being forever relieved of all responsibility a~d liability <br />for bridges, ros~isand fills at-s~ud-across ~ke 0ahoon, the PortsmouthOi~ty Council will <br />accept the proposal of the Boar~ of SupervisOrs of Na~semond Oounty to p~y ~he Oouuty of <br />Nansemcnd $7500;O0 aad will construct a new bridge 192 feet tong in place of Ha~rell's <br />bridge across the North Br~nch,.and a bridge across the South Branch 317 feet long at the <br />new site selected by the Supervmsors. <br /> The piles, timbers and construction of these b~ldges to be as set forth in the <br />letter of O. Bi Gross and Gompa~y April 3, 1931, addressed to the Supervisors." <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Stewart, same was adopted and by the following vote: <br /> Ayes - Hutchins, Maupin, Mayo, 0asr, Ogg, Stewart - <br /> <br />Nays - Brooks.- 1. <br /> <br /> Communication from Policemen Randolph, White and Revere, in reference to oou~t <br />costs of $1~.35 cha~ged agminst them by reason of suit of E. A. Esleeck, was taken up from <br />table and readf <br /> Mr. Mayo moved that we appropriate $192.35 to pay sempe billg <br /> <br /> M~. Stews~vt offered as substitute ~hat we appropriate $96.18' to pay one-half of <br />said bi~l. Vote waa taken om Mr. Stewart~s substitute and same w~s lost b~ the following <br />v~te: <br /> Ayes - Brooks, Maupin, Ogg, 8tews~t - 4. <br /> <br /> Nays V Hutchins, ~yo, 0ast T 3. <br />(Not having the requmred two-thiras vote) <br /> <br />Vote being taken on Mr. Mayo's motion, <br /> <br />Ayes - Hutchins, <br /> <br /> same was lost and by the following vote: <br />Maupin, Mayo, Oast - ~. <br /> <br /> Nays - B~ooks, 0gg, SteW~r~ - 3- <br />(Not having the required two-thirds vote) <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Mayo the vote on his motion was reoonsidezed~~ <br /> <br /> Motion cf Mr. Mayo thmt the Council mppropri~te $ 128.'23 to pay two--thirds of <br />said bill w~s adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> Ayes - Brooks, Hutchins, Maupin, N~yc, 0~st, Ogg, Stewart - 7J <br /> <br />Nays - None. <br /> <br />Hon.
