<br />a regular meeting of the Oity 0ounoit held April 28th, 1931, there were present:

<br /> Also the Oity~Manager.

<br /> Minutes of regular meeting held April 14th were read, aad on motion of Mr. Hutchins,
<br />that part in reference to tax on sada fountains was corrected to resxi as follows: "Where
<br />the monthly rental is $75.00 or less-, $26.00; and where the monthly ~ental is over
<br />$75.00, $5l.o0.'"
<br /> On motio~ the minutes were approved as corrected.

<br />The following co~m~unications from the Oity Msn~ger were read:

<br /> 1st - "With further reference t? the request of Mr. Hodges Baker for increase in
<br />appropriation for office supplies, which matter was referr~db~ck to the airy Attorney
<br />and myself, will state that Mr. Baker present, ed to me todaya letter from the Attorney
<br />general on the subject, rere~rin~ to Section 299 of the Tax Gode. The letter is at-
<br />tached. Mr. Baker has asked that I present the matter at tonight's meeting, that his
<br />supply of certain stationery is exhausted a~d he has had to borrow from the O~erk of
<br />N0~olk 0ounty. On Ma~rch 2$th, I submitted to you a rea?est from Mr. Baker for a~ es-
<br />timated sm?unt of $$50zOOneeded for dgckets, stationery, books, etc. We now have a
<br />balance om aporoxi~ately $185.00 left mn the apProprmation for aourts, out of $1,$60~0
<br />appropriated,-$6OOA~O of 9hich has been reserved f&~Judge ~ite~s courtA~ This le~t only
<br />~0.00 to be spe~t on equipmen~ and supplies for the entire year~ ~
<br /> Mr. Baker's requisition for supplies and e~uipment have already reached
<br />$600,00. The appropriation made for cou~ts this year was b~ed on that ~mount in 1930
<br />but, as YOu ~ill note, the requisitions for supplies are in excess of those made in ore-
<br />vious years~~ This is Dot said in criticism, but merely ~s a statement of facts. --
<br /> In conclusioh, if the Attorney General's construction of the law is right
<br />and ~ feel I must a~cept it as such, I recommend that ~the appropriation requested be m~de
<br />so that we may furamsh the court with immediate supplies."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Stewart ~.hat we concur in the reoomm~endation of the 0ity Manager and
<br />that an appropriation of $~0~C~ be made ~or sa~..e, was adopted and by the following vote:

<br /> 2nd - "~he Oounoil, at &ts meeting on April 14th, referred back ~o'me the communi-
<br />cation relative to the retirement of Mr. George T. Wright.
<br /> The cos~ of retiring Mr. Wright for the remainder of the year will be
<br />$400~O0, beginning the first of May, at the rate of $50.00 per month, and a special
<br />appropriation of this amoun~ would have to be made. The Doctor's report on Mr. Wright's
<br />condition was presented at the last Oouncil meeting.
<br /> I beg to report progress on the matter referred to me, relative to petition
<br />of Mr. ~. G. Gray ~or retirement. Mr. Gr~y is in Mr. Weaver's Department amd I have re-
<br />ferred the question to him. I will report on his retirement at a later datej"

<br /> Motion cZ Mr. Stewart that we concur in the recommendation of the Oity Manager to
<br />retire Mr. George T. Wright at $50.00 per month pension and that $400A'00 be appropriated
