'It hasbeen the Custom of the home city ~o appropriate a substantial sum for this- <br /> purpose, and the Commonwealth of Virginia has, in years past, donated $500. to this fund in <br /> recognition of the benefits that accrue to the State. <br /> The members of the Drum and B~g!e Corps have sacrificed much of thei~ time mud. <br /> personal pleasures ~o attain the e~ficiency necessary to successfully compete with the more <br /> experienced corps throUghout the State and they are deserving of the oppo~unity to compete <br /> in the National Convention.
