<br /> Minutes of regular meeting held August 25th were read and approved.
<br />
<br /> The following communications from the Oity Manager were presented:

<br /> let - Submitting a bill from~Mrs. Elizabeth Skutt for $46.50 for boarding the
<br />three Kiser children, for the month of August, 1931.
<br /> The motion of Er. Ogg that an appropriation of $46.50 be made to p ay said
<br />bill, was adopted,

<br /> The following ordinance laid on the table at hte last meeting was taken up and

<br />OF THE FORM OF CONTRAOT HERETO ATTAOHED AI~MADE A PART HEREOF BETWEEN THE
<br />CITY OF PORTSMOUTH AND VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY FOR THE FJRCHASE
<br />BY THE CITY FROM THE COMPANY OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY FOR THE OPERATION OF PUMPING
<br />STATIONS OF TEE CITY LOCATED AT LANE KILBY AND LANE CAHOON, IN THE CITY OF
<br />SUFFOLK, IN THE 00UNTY OF NANSEMOND, STATE OF VIRGINIA."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Brooks "that the sum of $~l,311.O0 be appropriated from the wa,ret
<br />Department funds, or so much of same as may be necessary for electrification of S~ffoik
<br />water plant, and that same be laid on table until next meeting.~
<br />
<br /> Er. Ogg moved in substitution thereof ~That the sum of $41,311.00 be appropris~ed
<br />from the Water Department funds and that the $20,000.00 when received from the Power Company
<br />be deposited in the Water Depa~rtment funds" and that the matter be laid on the table until
<br />next meeting. The substitute offered by Mr. Ogg was adopted, and by the followLug vote:
