<br /> WHEREAS,.~there.has been presented to this body
<br />consideration and approval,
<br />project area (Amendment No.
<br />
<br /> for
<br />a copy of an amended Plan for
<br />26); and
<br />
<br />the
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Amendment No. 26 proposes to designate additional
<br />properties as "To Be Acquired"; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that
<br />are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community
<br />Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those prohibiting
<br />discrimination because of race, age, color, religion, familial
<br />status, handicap, sex or national origin; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council, it is in the
<br />interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said Amendment
<br />be approved.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
<br />of Portsmouth, Virginia:
<br />
<br /> 1. That regarding Amendment No. 26, it is hereby found:
<br />
<br /> (a) That the objectives of the Crawford Urban Renewal
<br />~roject, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved by the
<br />adoption of said Amendment to the Plan.
<br />
<br /> (b} That Amendment No. 26 meets the requirements of a plan
<br />for an urban renewal project pursuant to Chapter i of Title 36
<br />of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended.
<br />
<br /> 2. That Amendment No. 26, having been duly reviewed and
<br />considered, is hereby approved and adopted, and the City Clerk
<br />is hereby directed to file a copy of said Amendment with the
<br />minutes of this meeting."

<br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, end seconded by Mr. Clemons, to adop~
<br />the following resolution, and was ~adopted by the following vote

<br /> "A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 5 TO THE EFFINGHAM
<br />CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE EFFINGF~AM PROJECT.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted March 12, 1973
<br />approved a Conservation and Redevelopment Plan for the Effingh~
<br />Project, Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan); and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for
<br />consideration and approval, a copy of an sanended Plan for the
<br />project area; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Amendment No. 5 proposes to designate additional
<br />properties as "To Be Acquired"; and
<br />
