This error was ~o~d by of- ficials of the Prentis park Corporation and the tickets have been ret~ned to the Oity 0o!- lector and are held by her a~inst the property. Hutchins that the Si~ing F~d Oo~ission be re~esled to pay smid bond when due, was laid on table ~ ~xt meet~g. - NEW BUSLNESS - The City Manager presented the following copy of a bill introduced in ~he Leg- islature: ~'Item 21 H.B... Notice to be Given EuniciT~alities in Damage Suits. This bill would require that no action be maintain~dag~inst any city or town for any injury to any person or p~operty alleged to have been sustained by the negligence of the city or town or any officer, agent, or employee thereof, unless a w~itten statement by the claiment or his attorney, agent or representative of the nature of the claim and the time and place of in- jury, shall have been filed with the city attorney or t~v n attorne~y or with the ~yor or chief executive within sixty days after such cause of the action shall have accrued, except whe~ t~e claimant is an infant or non-octopus mentis, or the _nvolvem party dies within sixty da3~s, such stateme~% may be filed within laC days. Mayo that we request our ~epresentatives to oppose ss~id bill was adopted. Communication from ~ar. EcMurraa~ inclosing copy of a bill relative to applica- tion for the establishment of ferries. On motion of Ma. Hutchins Mr. McMu~ran wa.s recedes.ted ~o have said bill amended so as not to apply to ferries from one s'ide of the Elmzabeth R~ver and its~ branches to the other side of the Elizabeth River and its branches. On motion of Ma. N~yo, the privilege of the floor was granted to Er. who complained of the house n'~mbering of block of McDaniel St. between First Ave. St. On motion the matter w~s referred to the City Manager. Privilege of the floc= was granted to ~Lr. Aoton representing the American Le- gion, requesting the Couhcil to comr~nicate with Hon. E. Lankford requesting his support in having the Virginia Veterans Bureau Hospital located in Portsmouth. On motion of N~r. Mayo, the Council endorssd said request.
