<br /> In view of Capt. Hali's request, findings of the Oity Physician, and his recom-
<br />mendation, and recommendation of the Retirement Board, I recommend that Gapt. Hall be
<br />tLved, effedtive February 1st, 1933, at an armual pension of $781.20. The records in the
<br />Police Department show that Caot. Hall has been in continuous service since August 25th,
<br />191?, which under our rules entitles him to a pension of $781.20 per annum.' He will.be
<br />fifty-eight years of age in May of this year.'

<br /> All of those relieved account of re~.uced budget were notified De~ember 20th, 1932
<br />the next day after the budget was adopted. Mr. M.L. Parker, Building Inspector, is being em-
<br />ployed temporarily as an inspector in the Engirmering Department. This work will probably
<br />last several weeks. Mr. D.T. Ballentine has been offered another position in the Eng&neering
<br />Department, but to date has not gone to work on the position. Miss Minnie Williams was not
<br />the youngest nurse in service, but when she heard that one position of nurse was to be abol-
<br />ished, she made a request that she be furloughed until her services were again required, as
<br />she had been considering retiring for some time. Ar. W.T. Brown has been given some tempo-
<br />rary work that will last approximately three months. Mr. H.S. Hart is now carried as a sub-
<br />stitute Lu the Fire Department.
<br /> Ar. J.M. Broughton, 0hief of Police, ~s relieved from service, account ineffi-
<br />ciency of the department. At the time he was notified, I advised Mr. Broughton that he would
<br />be carried on the payroll for a reasonable time. I plan to carry him on the payroll for the
<br />month of January. He has already been paid for the first half of Jenny. ry. Sergeant H.A. Eden
<br />and Patrolmen R.O. Journee, W.J. Morgan and S.Bo Webb were relieved from service for cause,
<br />and are no~ being carried on the payroll from the time they were relieved.·

<br /> Motion of Ar. Brooks to lay on table until next meeting an appropriation of
<br />$1,881.83, was adopted.

<br />The following communication from the Oity Attorney was read:
<br />
<br /> 1st - 'There are tWO lots of land on the west side of Second Street, between
<br />Harrison and Wythe Streets, which belonged to the Misses Hull, who are now dead, and upon
<br />which taxes have not been paid for several years. The taxes now'due on the land amount to
<br />more ~han the value thereof. A party has recently approached me about the purchase of these
<br />lots and states he will pay as much as $400. for the same.
