Decemberi12,'1995 Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt the following ordinand~, and was adopted by the following vote: "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 32 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTION 32-2~' '"- THEREOF, PERTAINING TO PARKING LOT CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS." Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb Nays: None 95-551 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance to change the name of Gateway Drive to Willow Breeze Drive and Gateway Court to Willow Breeze Court. "The Willow Breeze Civic League is requesting to change the name of a portion of Gateway Drive to Willow Breeze Drive and Gateway Court to Willow Breeze Court. This change is being requested to eliminate problems that emergency providers and others are experiencing in finding the neighborhood. Gateway Drive was barricaded to prevent vehicular traffic from an adjacent apartment complex from cutting through the Willow Breeze neighborhood. The change has caused some of the confusion. The name change would differentiate the two parts of the street. The Planning Commission has recommended approval, and I concur with their decision. I, therefore, recommend adoption of this ordinance for the street name changes." Tracy Young, 3409 Gateway Drive, spoke in support of the proposed name change. Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME OF A PORTION OF GATEWAY DRIVE TO WILLOW BREEZE DRIVEl AND CHANGING THE NAME OF GATEWAY COURT TO WILLOW BREEZE COURT." Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, HawkS, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb Nays: None 95-552 - Letter from the City Manager recOmmending adoption of a resolution to support balancing the Federal budget. "Attached for your consideration is a resolution on deficit reduction that has been adopted by the National League of Cities and the Virginia Municipal League in an effort to 'stress the importance of working cooperativeIy with all levels of government to accomplish this task. It is imperative that the Portsmouth Congressional Delegation is made aware of the City's support for this national dialogue. I reco~end approval of the resOlution and ask that it be transmitted to our Delegation on behalf of City Council." Motion by Mr. Pitts, and secOnded by Mr. Martin, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION ON DEFICIT REDUCTION. WHEREAS, eliminating the federal budget deficit is quickly becoming the single most important issue facing the nation's cities today; and
