3'3'1 December 12, 1995 "A RESOLUTION CLOSING THE OFFICES OF THE CLERK OF THE CIRCUIT COURT OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH ON THE AFTERNOON OF DECEMBER 22, 1995. WHEREAS, the afternoon of 24th day of December is a general holiday for the employees of the City of Portsmouth under the provisions of Section 2-111 of the City Code; and WHEREAS, this holiday will be observed by the City on the afternoon of December 22, 1995, since said December 24th falls on Sunday this year; and WHEREAS, Section 17-41 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as ~mended, provides that a clerk's office of a circuit court may be closed on any day which is established as a general holiday for employees of a local government upon adoption of a resolution by the governing body of such locality and approval by the judge of the circuit court. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court for the City of Portsmouth be closed on the afternoon of December 22, 1995, commencing at 1:00 P.M. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, pursuant to Section 17-41 of the Code of Virginia, that said closing shall have the same force and effect as a legal holiday under Section 1-13.3:1 of said Code. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to deliver a certified copy of this resolution to the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court for approval and filing an accordance with the applicable provisions of Section 17-41."
