Ali of these men have been in the Police Department for some time and I
am advised that their services have been very satisfactory and such am to warrant the pro-
motion."

On motion, ordered filed.
7th - ,The resolution adopted by you on January 24th, 1933, regarding investiga-
tion of public utility rates which I recommended, was forwarded to the State Corporation
mission and to the League of Virginia Nunicipalities, a s required in the resolution. Commis-
sioner Hooker, of the State Corporation 0ommission, acknowledged receipt of the resolution,
and Mr. Wallerstein, forwarded-copies of the resolution to all members of the League of Vir -
ginia Nunicipalities under date of january 26th, 1933o
The president of the Virginia League of Nunicipalities called a conference
on February 10th, at the Richmond hotel in Richmond, of such municipalities as would send
representatives to consider what joint action the cities and towns should take in the inves-
tigation as to electric rates ~ecently ordered by the State Corporation Commission.
I attended, this conference, which was attended by representatives from sev-
eral cities throughout the State. After discussing the investigation recently ordered by the
State 0orporation Commission, the League adopted two ~resolutions to be sent to the state
potation Commiss ion.
The first resolution asked the State Corporation Commission to revise the
scope and character of its investigation of the state's three 1-argest electrical power com-
panies to include the valuation of- the companies, so as to furnish a complete basis for rate
determination and to oermit the League to have their representative participate in the inves-
tigation which has be~n ordered by the Commission.
The second resolution was similar to the one adopted by you on January 24th,
1933, which requested the Commission to arrange for an immediate investigation of all public
utility rates. I- presented the second resolution and it was unanimously adopted by the League.
I also sewed on the committee that prepared the first resolution.
From the discussion at the conference, it is evident that there is an urgent
demand on the part of a large number of citizens throughout the State for an immediate inves-
tigation of all public utility rates."

On motion, ordered filed.

8th- "In the reports furnished you tonight is a cash report for the yeaT 1932.
Tl~is cash report shows total cash receiots aoolioable to the General Fund tc be $1,6~8,110.91.
This includes receipts from the sale of-bonds-and loans amounting-to $~59,328.0~ which leaves
cash ~eeeiots of $1,t88,?$2.83, exclusive of bonds and loans.
