Privilege of the floor was granled anyone present interested in the ~ax Ordinance.
Mr. Levin spoke for the ~lumbers and asked that their tax be made same as Norfolk. Mm. A. A.
Bangel asked consideration of the retail grocers.

The following communication from the Oity Manager was read, in which he recommend-
ed several additions and changes in the 1933 License Tax Ordinance:

"As requested by you at the meeting on March 28th, I conferred with the licensed
plumbers and licensed electricians for the purpose of working out a license tax that would be
acceptable to the plumbers, electricians and the 0ity. ·

I understand the present license tax of $101.00 for plumbers and electricians was
made at the request of the plumbers and electricians. In view of the fact that contractors'
licenses are only $26.00 and $51.00, and the average merchant's city license is about $?6.00,
I ca~ see no objection ~o making the License tax for electricians and plumbers $76.00. From
%he conferences I have had with the ~lumbers and electricians, I believe this rate would be
acceptable to the majority of them and I believe would be a fair tax whom compared with the
license tax of merchants and others.
It is my recommendation thai the following four items be inserted in the License ·
Tax ordinance for the year beginning May 1st, 1933, in lieu of what is now in the proposed
dinance covering these items.
