I paid the taxes for that year but do not have the receipt to show payment as I do not keep them that far back. It is possible that I may have bec~me confused with another A. Facenda who is on the tax book~ I also would appreciate relief from a~ assessment for 1932 on personal property at 600 Court St., which heretofore has been assessed at $50.00 and which same identical pro- perty is now assessed at $200.00. These assessments work'a great hardship on me as I have not been able to get my city license on account ef the demand that I pay the taxes for these assessments. Approved - ~~nt. of the Portsmouth- The Resolution - '~IEREAS, there has been introduced in the General Assembly of Virginia, a bill enabl'inE the City of portsmouth to waive the collection of penalties and interest a s now fixed by law upon delinquent taxes for a period of years; and WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has beg~ua'd~ive for the collection of taxes which are now due and payable, and it is felt that the passage of such a bill as proposed will re- tard the payment of and seriously militate against the effort now being made to collect taxes, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council record itself as opposed to the passage of the bill en- ab!ing the City of Portsmouth to waive the collection of penal- ties and interest as now fixed by law upon delinquent taxes fo~ a period of yea~s; and BE IT F~L~THER BEBOLVED that copies of this resolu- forwarded to our local representatives in the General As- tion be sembly.'
