<br />of accounts and book-keeping ~op!ies to said motor bus
<br />transportation, and the City Auditor or some accountant
<br />duly authorized by the Council shall have the right and
<br />privilege at any time to examine the books of t~he said
<br />company or individual in order to justify or, if need be,
<br />to correct the same, or any returns and reports made by
<br />the same company or individual therefrom.'

<br /> In view of these provisions and the fact that the V.E. & p. Company has
<br />not furnished the information requested in my letter of June 19th, as to buses and cars, I
<br />request authority to require the V.E. & P. Company to furnish the City a monthly report, ef-
<br />fective August l, 1933, of their operations that will show the information requested in my
<br />letter to Mr. Throckmorton of June 19th, 1933; also thai I be authorized, together with the
<br />City Auditor, to review and check the books and records of the V.E. & P. Company, with re-
<br />spect to these coerations. In this way suff-icient information can be secured from which it
<br />can be determine~ whether reductions should be made in the rates chazged, or t. he City's t~o-
<br />portion of the gross receipts from buses and ears increased~
<br /> I have been advised by the C. & P. Telephone Compan~ that they would
<br /> give me a definite reply to my request upon them within the next few days."

<br />On motion of Mr. Moore, the Manager's recommendation was concurred in.
<br />
<br /> 4th - The Manager stated that Mr. McMu~ran had offered a bill in the Legislature
<br />to allow the City to waive penalty and interest on delinquent taxes.
<br /> In this connection Mr. Fox offered the followir~ resolution which was
<br />adopted, and by the following vote:

<br /> 5th - The Manager stated that he had taken ~p with the State Highway Commission
<br />the question of paving High Street from Chestnut to Water St. from Public Works Fund and
<br />believed we would get favorable action on s~e.

<br />On motion of Mr. 0gg, the Manager was allowed to take his vacation at his

<br />convenience.
