Hutchins, Arth%uv Mayo, S.B. Moore, J.Alden <br /> 0asr, Archibald Ogg, 0ity Manager. <br /> <br /> Minutes of regular meeting held November l~th were read and approved. <br /> The following communications f rom the City Manager were r~ad: <br /> let - ,present instructions provide that penalty of f ire per c~nt will be added <br />to all real estate and personal property taxes paid on and after December let. <br /> As November 30th is a legal holiday and the State and Oounty permit the <br />payment of taxes through December 5th, without penalty, I recommend the adoption of the fol- <br />lowing resolution permitting the payment of taxes Sh~ough-and including December 5th, without <br />penalty: <br /> ~BE IT RESOLVED That the time for imposing the penalty for the <br /> non, payment o£ taxes for the year 1933 due to the City be ex- <br /> tended until December 6, 1933, and that the city collector be <br /> and he is hereby authorized aud directed to collect city taxes <br /> on real estate, personal property and machinery levied for the <br /> year 1933 through and includ~g December ~, 1933,_~th9~~ pen- <br /> alty. but upon ail taxes paid after Deeemoer 5, 193J, ~epen- <br /> alty'of 5%provided ~or by ordinance and the State law shall be <br /> added and collected.'" <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. 0gg to conouz in the Manager's recommendation, was adopted. <br /> <br /> 2nd - ,In accepting collections in the Oity Ocllector's office this week, a coun- <br />terfeit Federal Reserve note, series B-27723~86-A, amount $10.00, was received. This counter- <br />feit note has been given to one of the local banks to be turned over to the Federal authori- <br />ties. <br /> I examined this note and am o~ the opinion that no one but an expert could <br />tell that it was a counterfeit note; in view of which I r~quest a special appropriation to <br />reimburse the Oollecto~ s office for the amount o~ the counterfeit note." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Hutchins to appropriate Ten Dollars to reimburse the City Collector, <br /> was adopted. <br /> <br /> 3rd - "The City 0ollector advises that the following refunds are due, unde~ the <br />. prepayment tax plan for 1933, on account of these individuals and companies having overpaid <br /> their taxes. These overpayments were due principally to reductions made in assessments by <br /> the State Go=potation Oommiss ion and reduction in tax rate on machinery. Petitian of M.O. LeDoyen, Jr., for relief of taxes. <br /> I find that the assessors of 1930 charged against the land of Mr. Lo- <br />Doyen two houses, when he only owned one house. The other house was owned by Mr. L.A. Brough- <br />ton, who, when he discovered the house was not assessed against him, applied to the Oommis- <br /> <br /> <br />
