Hon. J. Alden Oast,
~ayor and Eembers of Oity Oounci!,
Per tsmouth, Virginia.

Gentlemen:
~ay I call to your attention the manner in which the wood bus,ess is being
handled by the peddlers of our Oity.
Wood is purchased by them and sold at a price that we can not compete. If con-
sistent, may I ask that you gentlemen take some steps toward eliminating this practice of
peddli~ wood at such a low Dries.
In Norfolk I Cnderstand the license tax for wood peddlers is $500.00 per annum.
my wood sales have d~opped from $40.00 to $50.00 per day to $$.00 to $9.00 per day, showing
what d~mage they have done to me.
Any action taken by you, gentlemen, to prevent future occurrences of the above
as outlined will be greatly appreciated.
Yours very tr~uly,

Virgil D. Proctor, Inc.
