Brooks, <br />J. Alden Oast, and Oity Manager. <br /> <br />Leslie T. <br /> <br />Minutes of regular and <br /> <br /> · <br /> Oity Oouncil held Aprzl 10 n, 1934, at 8:00 P.M., <br /> <br /> Fox, W.R. Hutchins, Arthur Mayo, S.B~ Moore, <br />special meetings held March 27th, were read and approved. <br /> <br />The following co~mmunication from the 0ity Manager was read: <br /> <br /> let - "The Master Plumbers Association of Portsmouth has ~equested that we en- <br />force section $2 of the ordinance adopted Ju~e 17th, 1920 regulating the installation of plumb- <br />ing, etc., which section orovides for s Beard for the examination of plumbers. <br /> I u~dek~stand this part of the ordinance has not been enforced for several <br />years, but in view c~ the request of the Master Plumbers Association, your concurrence is re- <br />quested in the enfordement of tha~t part of the ordinance providing for an Examinimg Board for <br />plumbers, with the understanding that all plumbers who have not already been explained By the <br />Board will be examined before they receive their 1934 license." <br /> <br /> Motion o~ Mr. Mayo that we concur in the Manager's recommendation ao~ that he <br />be authorized ~o appoint two members of said Board, was adopt~do <br /> <br /> 2nd - The Manager stated that he had a. r~e.quest from the Virginia Electric and <br />Power Oompany for an ex~ensi, on of the temper&fy permit gmven them to op~ rate buses to West Ha- <br />ven and recommended that said permit be extended to May 8th. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Brooks to concur in the Manage$~s recommendation was adopted. <br /> <br />- UNfiNISHED BU~Ii~E~B - <br /> <br />The following ordinance laid on table March 2?th was taken up: <br /> <br />"AN O.RDINANOE INPOSING A LICENSE TAX FOR THE 0ITY O~ PORTSMOUTH FOR THE <br />YEAR BEGINNING MAY 1st, 193~." <br /> <br /> Mo~ion of Mr. B~ooks to lay on table until a public meeting be called by the <br />0hair to consider same, was adopted. <br /> <br />P~M~ <br /> <br />The Ohair stated he would call a special meeting, Tuesday,April~lyth, <br /> <br /> - NEW BUSINESS - <br />The following letter was read: <br /> <br />at 8:O0 <br /> <br /> <br />
