Gore S. Darden <br /> Second School D~strict- Mr. T.A. ~illett <br /> -Third School District - Mr~ J.H. Bain <br /> <br />following mercers of <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> H. A. Hunt, Supt. of Schools." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Hutchins that we go into the election of members of the School Board <br />was ~topted. <br /> Er. Brooks nominated Mrs. Gera S. Darden for First District, Nm. T.A: Willett, <br />Second District, Mr. J.H. Bain, Third Bistrict. <br /> On motion of ~. Hutchins, nominations were closed, and vote being taken, Mrs. Oora <br />S. Darden, Mr. T.A. Willett and ~r. J.H. Bain were declared elected and by the £ollowing vote: <br />(the vote being the same £or each) <br /> <br /> :.:Ayem: Brooks,-Fox, Hutchins, Mayo, Moore, 0est, Parrish. <br /> <br /> Bill of J. Shirley Hope, S~ate Game Warden, for $202.50 for destroying 81 tagless <br /> dogs at $2.50 each, was presented. <br /> Motion o~ Mr, Fox that the Treasurer be authomized to pay same f~om funds iu her <br /> hands from collection of dog taxes, was adopted, <br /> <br />The following letter was read: <br /> <br />~PORTSMOUTH POST NO. 37 <br />American Legion <br />Department of Virginia <br /> <br />Portsmouth, Va,, june 12, 193~. <br /> <br />The Honorable ~ayor and Oity Gouncil, <br /> <br />Gentlemen: <br /> <br /> The general Gommittee on Fleet Reception has suggested that we have two dances <br />this summer ~or the enlisted men of the Fl~eet. <br /> The first dance to be held shortly after June 20th, and the latter when the Fleet <br />assembles here the last part of August. I am making a request for a do~tion of $~0.00 to <br />cover cost of City auditorium and kitchen, there will be no coo~ing. <br /> ~espectfully yours, <br /> <br /> Joseph M.
