"The term of office of the Civil and Police Justice will expire August 1934.' The ordinance requires the successor to be elected in July." ~ Motion of Mr. Brooks to go into the election of Civil and Police Justice for a term of four years, beginning September 1st, 1934, was adopted. The following application for same was received: "July lOth, 1934. Honorable Oity Cotmcil, Portsmouth, Virginia. Gentlemen: I hereby make application for position of Civil and Police Justice. Very respectfully, Harry 0uthrietl." Mr. Moore nominated Mr. Cuth~iell, and there being no other nominations, Outhrielt was elected, andby the following vote: For Mr. Outhriell: Brooks, Fox, Hutohins, Mayo, Moore Oast, Parrish. Against Mr. Cuthriell: None. The following letter was read: "Lee Hall, Va., June 29, 1934. Hon. J. Alden Oast, President, City Council, Portsmouth, Virginia. Dear Sir: In oompiianoe with the ReSolution of the Oity Council of PortSmouth granting an extension of fifteen days to allow us to comply with the Ordinance requiring off-street bus stations, this is to advise you that it is now our intention to comply with this ordinance within.ninety (90) days from the effective date of said Ordinance, i.e., 6/28/34. We respect- fully request, therefore,~t-hat the Council grant us the 90 days from June ~Sth, 1934 to eom- plete detaile. adopted, Yours very truly, PENINSULA TRANSIT CORPORATION J.M. "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND RE-ORDAI~N SECTION FOUR OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED 'AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE MOTOR PA~SS~ENGER BUSES OPERATING FROM POINTS BEYOND THE LI~IT~ OF THE OITY, PROV~ING RULES AND REG- ULATIONS FOR THE USE OF THE STREETS OF THE CITY BY SUCH BUSES AND PROVIDING FOR BUS TERMINALS AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIO- LATION THEREOF, ADOPTED NOVEMBER 28th, 1933."
