<br /> I have been advised that walkathons and other physical endurance contests
<br />have been held in other cities and business~ civic and religious organizations in cities where-
<br />they have been held, strongly oppose them. As no benefits can b e derived from such contests, I
<br />believe it would be advisable to prohibit such in Portsmouth,"
