Cox of tax in the sum of $53.00 for each of <br />193R, 1933 and 193~ on 300 North Street, was received. <br /> Motion of Mr. 0asr to relieve taxes as mentioned in said Court Order, was <br /> <br />make <br /> <br /> The following petitionw as read: <br /> "The children of Park View hereby petition to the Portsmouth City Council to <br />it nossible to. have a safe place for a Skating Runk. <br /> Signed - Vernon Brooks, Jr. and 337 others.e <br /> <br /> Privilege of the floor was g~anted B~ownley Owens who spoke in favor of the <br /> <br />petition. <br /> <br /> Motion of M~, Hutchins that the Oity'Manager that the City Manager work out a <br />plan by which the children in the several sections of the City, both white and colored, will <br />have skating facilities, was adopted. <br /> On motion of Mr. Hutchins, privilefge of the floor was granted Mrs. Lelia J. <br />Triolett, Mrs. Triplett appea~ed and spoke to the Council, requesting the Council to endorse <br />stated that ~he Women's Work was an~ W°men~s Work in the F.E.R.A. offices. Mrs. Triplett <br />Mrs~ Mary O.~LeCompte.as Director o had been suffering due to lack of a director and proper <br />personnel to handle the work'. <br /> Motion of Mr. Stewart to endorse Mrs. Ma~y O. LeGompte, who has been recommended <br />by the City Manager for the position of Director of Women's Work in the F.E.R.A. offices in <br />PortsmoUth, and requesting Mr. Wm. A. Smith, Stake Director, F.E.R.A. to immediately appoint <br />Mrs[ Ma~ LeCompte.to this position was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes: Brooks, Fox, Hutchins, Moore, 0asr, Parrish, Stewart. <br /> Nays: None. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />With the unanimous consent of all the members, the Council re-convened. <br /> <br /> Motio= of Mr. Oast to endorse Mrs. Mary D. Peters, who has been recommended by <br />the City Manager, for the position of Director of the Portsmouth Relief Office and requesting <br />Mr. Wm. A. Smith, State Director, FoE.R.~., tq immediately appoint Ers. Peters to this posi- <br />tion and to fill any necessary vacancies in the Relief offices at once, in order that the Re- <br />lief work can be handled properly, was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Brooks, Fox, Hutchins, Moore, 0asr, Parrish, Stewart. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />Appr nv ed - <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />President. <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br /> <br />
