The following letter was read: <br /> <br />"Portsmouth, Va., <br /> <br />N ovemb er <br /> <br />The Hon. Oity 0oun¢il, <br />Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> <br />Gentlemen: <br /> About November !st. i purchased from ~r. J.H. McGu!lough, lot No. 106, situated <br />on the North ' ~ ' <br /> s~de o~ Bay St., 158 feet west of Elm Ave., running 26 x ll2 feet. <br /> In the payment of the taxes which were due for the past five years, the City <br />Collected collected taxes on lot 106 and 107 which were joined in the assessment of 1930. I <br />do not own lot No. 107, and I respectfully ask that the tax paid by me for. the years 1930 to <br />1934 inclusive, on a value of $25Q.00 be refunded to me. ~ <br /> <br />Yours truly, <br /> <br />special <br /> <br /> Moses T. Taylor." <br /> <br /> On motion same was referred to the City Attorney. <br /> <br /> Bill of R~oert F. McEurran for $30.00 for one-half of <br />Prosecuting Attorney for the State, was read. <br /> <br />fees for his services as <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Oast to appropriate $~0.00 to pay same, was adopted. <br /> <br /> Motion of Er. Pox for the City Manager to investigate and report on the elimina- <br />tion of ready-to-serve charge to water bill or a reeuctzon~ ' of water rates, and reducing the <br />deposits required for consumers to an amount no~ ~reater than the minimum water bill, was <br />adopted. ~ <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Moore, privilege of the floor was granted a representative of <br />the Boy Scouts, who asked for an ~ppropriation of $310.00 for Boy Scouts for 1935. <br /> <br /> On motion, referred to the 1935 Budget. <br /> <br /> The Council.at this time went into recess ~o confer with the officials of the <br />Virginia Electric and Power Company in reference to substituting buses for street cars. <br /> <br /> Upon reconvening, the following ordinance .laid over from the earlier part of <br />the meeting, was taken up: <br /> <br />,'AN 0RDIN~0E TO A~EI~D AND REORDAIN SUBSECTION 9 OF SEOTION IV <br />OF AN 0~IN~TCE ENTITLED 'AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE MOTOR BUS <br />PASSENGER T~L~NSPORTATION IN THE OITY OF PORTSMOUTH~ ADOPTED <br />JULY 28, !926. <br /> <br />On <br /> <br />motion of Mr. Oast, the ordinance.was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes: Brooks, Fox, Hutchins, Moore, Oast, Pettish, Stewart 7. <br /> Nays: None. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />0ITY OLDE. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> President. <br /> <br /> <br />
